Formal Easter Table - Grandpa's Dishes

Thank you to Susan (http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/) for her gracious hosting each week of Tablescapes Thursday!

Today I have posted pictures of my dining room table as it is set this Easter. This is the first year that I have used these pink "Depression" glass dishes. These dishes have been in my family for 3 generations. My grandfather, who just turned 89, earned them
running a paper route when he was 12 years old. These dishes had been handed down to my mother but when we tragically lost her to cancer in May of 2004, they were packed away and placed in my basement with everything else I could not bear to deal with at the time. A few weeks ago, I took a deep breath, gulped a few times and descended the stairs to search them out. I had a few crying spells as I unwrapped the pieces and carefully cleaned them off but, it was therapeutic in a way. I feel braver about starting to go through the rest of the basement. It will be hard but very rewarding as I know there are a few more "tablescapes" packed away down there that I will be able to share with all of you! I have had these bunnies for years and can not remember where I bought them. The napkins are from Home Goods and purchased last year. The beaded center pieces were purchased at Home Goods a few years ago and the cake stand was in my mother's china cabinet. It is not from the set my grandfather earned but
I remember her using it when I was a child.

I used martini glasses and jelly beans (that I purchased to match the napkins) to make matching candle holders. Now if I can just keep my family from grazing on the decorations,
they might last for a few more days!
The rest of the pink “Depression” glass was also in my mother's china cabinet and I am not sure of the origin or the age, I just know that it is lovely and makes me happy to see it displayed once again. I am sure she knows how much I treasure these pieces and the memories I have of her using them while I was growing up.
May you treasure the time with your loved ones this Easter and throughout the year! Blessings to you and yours!
